About SCAR15

You know this Essex duo that go by the name Curl & Dean from their The Curl & Dean Break Wind show on iBreaks Radio. You know them from their absolutely wicked and unique sounding previous releases on Big Square and Ape.
Their Snow Buddha release earned a number 1 spot in the DJ Download Beats & Breaks Chart, a DJ magazine recommendation and support from many, including Jay Cunning's Kiss FM show.

The driving progressive feel good Bantha combines horn sounds and vocals with breakbeats and all the necesary uplifting elements to make your feet take your body up and down on the dancefloor.

Beta did what he usually does best: he delivered a breaks remix beyond words! Rolling beats, growling bassline, sweet arpeggiators and pads, the original theme turned upside down and inside out will surely rock big sound systems across the world, shall we say more?

London-based producer and live act RuN RiOT is definitely no new name to anyone. He spread his innovative sound all over the original and turned it into an energetic breakstep affair with a cool rascal garage feel.

Hungarian producer Deriwer turns in an atmospheric progressive house remix with deep pads and mysterious elements keeping the very emotional elements from the original, but do not be fooled by the seemingly lush sound as it is yet a driving and powerful one set to rock any house dj’s set out there.

Last tune of the release is a surprising dub version from label owner Mesmer. His remix sets off as a deep dark chunky tight beats tune and keeps building until it drops into a proper roller with loads of tiny little bits and edits everywhere to revive the crowds.

Duane Barry (DSUK)

"Ez mate, Run Riot Remix is my favourite here, great energy! Beta and Mesmer remixes deliver too. Full support from 601"
601 (Rocstar, Scarcity)

"All about the Beta Remix on this one for me with some love rolling beats and deep bass."
Mobius (Ape, Re:connect)

"Nice little set of remixes for this release, but overall I think I would go with the Beta Remix. I like the oldskool references and that main synth and bass riff has a wicked little bounce to it and the sub in the middle section is tasty too! After that I am feelin the Mesmer dub."
John Grief (Definition:breaks)

"Original - Curl & Dean is a name I'm seeing more and more of lately, which can only be a good thing when they deliver breaks like this. Kinda proggy but with a more precision cuts style groove. Love the 'loose' rhythms and the flitered vocal sweeps that ride over the synth patterns. It drops like hybrid as well, which i think is the vocal and that wide sweeping bass. wicked tune.
Run Riot Remix - Shake that booty! Prog soca anyone? This track has undeniable energy and depth, which is a hard mix to get. probably the best thing I've heard from runriot. The lead line is a bit 'euro' for me, but I can see it working well on the floor.
Deriwer Remix - This has got a real old school trance feel (and I mean before trance was a dirty three letter word - pvd!) Reminds me of old dragonfly releases back in 93/4. And reminds me of the kind of thing you'd hear in a Global Underground/Steve Lawler set back in the day. This is truly deep, and just gets deeper and more intense at it goes. I didn't want it to end! Immense!
Mesmer dub - Really liking Mesmer's new flow and development here. The drums are direct but left of centre, throwing the whole tune into a different steppy vibe. Really taking something from the original and twisting into a deceptive roller that flows through variations and lush synth work. Top darts!
Beta Remix - A tough roller from beta once more! The more stuff Beta does the more bounce he manages to pack into his rollers, giving it a timeless groove. Pure truskool sounds. To be honest I've never dislike anything he's done, so it's no suprise I love this too. Oh, and the drop into the second bassline? Classic!
All in All - Scarcity go a long way to proving the versatility of the breaks sound producing a varied package that isn't just a 'remix by numbers' approach (you know, one tearout number, one dubstep number, one electrohouse style breaks tune). Can't pick a favourite, because they all have different merits, and i can see that i'll be playing all of them whenever i can!"
Kovacs/Clodhoppa (NSB Radio, Scarcity)
